Ayana Platt is a Tkarón:to (Toronto) based Soprano with a unique timber and impressive cut. Recent engagements include Annina in La Traviata (Brott Opera), Madama Defarge in A Tale of Two Cities (UofT Opera), Ophelia in Disobedience (UofT Opera), Lola in Gallantry (UofT Opera), and Nella in Gianni Schicchi (Utah Valley Vocal Arts).

As a performer, Ayana captures audiences with her theatrical expression and powerful delivery. Ayana recently placed second in the Utah Valley Vocal Arts Aria Competition, adjudicated by Deborah Voigt. Ayana brought tears to the audience's eyes and was commended for her moving performance.

Ayana is passionate about queer storytelling and aspires to challenge the traditionally heteronormative art form. She aims to modernize standard opera and create new works that question society’s binary ideals.

Ayana is a 2023 MMus graduate of the University of Toronto Opera School where she studied under Monica Whicher. In 2020 Ayana graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a BMus in voice and a minor in Women and Gender Studies.
